Hokie Effect is a program started by the Student Government Association five years ago in order to increase school spirit and boost morale at football games. Last year the Hokie Effect program sold more than 55,000 shirts to Virginia Tech fans, and the group expects to surpass that number in the current season. Each year, the Student Government Association holds an online contest to select slogans to be printed on the Orange Effect and Maroon Effect T-shirts. This year, the Orange Effect slogan, “Time to Get to Work,” celebrates that gritty, hardworking Hokie defense; while the Maroon Effect slogan, “New Lane, Same Game,” spotlights one of the most intimidating environments in college football. Orange and Maroon Effect T-shirts can be purchased together for $12, or separately at $6 for the short-sleeve Orange Effect T-shirt and $10 for the long-sleeve Maroon Effect T-shirt. Shipping and handling will be added to online orders. Hokie Effect T-shirts are available for purchase at all Virginia Tech University Bookstore locations.
